Questions we get every week
How much insulation should a Rhode Island attic have?
All of Rhode Island sits in climate zone 5, where ENERGY STAR recommends R-60 in an attic starting from bare joists, or topping up to R-49 if there's already three to four inches up there. In blown fiberglass, R-60 is roughly 19 to 21 inches.
Depth alone doesn't do it, though. If the ceiling plane leaks air, you're heating the attic through the insulation. We air-seal first, then blow.
What is a seamless gutter and why does it matter?
A seamless gutter is formed to length on site off a coil of aluminum, so a whole run has no joints except at corners and outlets. Fewer seams, fewer places to leak.
Because we measure and roll in your driveway, the gutter follows the actual shapes and curves of your house — and you pick the color, the profile, the miters and the collection boxes.
Do you work with builders and general contractors?
Yes — a large share of our work is new construction and custom homes, and we're members of the Rhode Island Builders Association. We schedule against your framing and rough inspections, and we can carry both the insulation and the gutters, so it's one call and one crew instead of two trades to chase.
Can you stop the ice dams on my roof?
Ice dams are an insulation and air-sealing problem before they're a gutter problem: heat leaks into the attic, melts the snow, and the water re-freezes when it hits the cold eave. We work both ends — sealing and insulating the ceiling plane so the roof deck stays cold, and using gutter and drainage details that keep water moving.
